Finally, a recap / photo diary of our Ireland trip is here ! In a nutshell, Alex and I went on vacation and spent two weeks in Ireland. We flew over to Shannon (West Coast) and slowly made our way over to Dublin (East Coast) where we flew home from. This is my Part 1 – be on the lookout for Part 2 to hit next week.
As I said, we flew in to Shannon with Airelingus and made our way to Limerick as our first stop. Limerick is where we studied abroad, so we knew it was going to be one of the first places we’d visit. Limerick is not your typical tourist city in Ireland and a while back, it was known as “Stab City.” But I loved studying abroad in a city that wasn’t filled with tourist, yet had a great nightlife and scenic places to tour. I got a real glimpse of what it’s like to live in Ireland. On a side note, if you’d like more info on all of the places we stayed this trip (a mixture of hotel, hostels and Airbnbs), feel free to message me and I’ll get you the information.
LIMERICK CITY, COUNTY LIMERICK
Next stop was Galway. This city is one of my favorites in Ireland. It has great food, shopping and live music on the streets and in the pubs. It’s where a lot of artists and musicians come to live, which you can truly see by the unique character the city has to offer. It’s also right by the water, so you can see gorgeous views as you walk around the city.
After only spending one night in Galway city center, we made our way down south to a small fisherman’s town, Kinvara. This town is built around the water and has the small town charm you would see in movies when you think of Ireland’s country side.
While staying in Kinvara we decided to walk the Flaggy Shore and it was one of our best days of the trip. It was great exercise and had breathtaking views of the ocean and rolling green hills.
Along our walk, two dogs (owned by locals) decided to join us and they were the perfect companions.
We decided to take a trip to the Cliffs of Moher while in the area the next day. This was my third time visiting and all three times included rainy windy weather. Oh well…. that’s Ireland.
Stay tuned for next week’s Part 2 of our Ireland trip!
xx
